>VARTYPE() currently behaves by design, there will not be a patch or change to it in future versions. The design is to pass a calculated expression/value. In the cases of a variable not existing, it returns U, as a convenience, so that it can be used in a few more useful situations.

So, in other words, VARTYPE() really isn't intended nor should be used for objects, where an error could result? That's what started this thread originally, VARTYPE() can cause errors in some cases where objects do not exist.
