It's a cultural thing. I know American attitudes about guns are hard for people from other countries to understand. Particularly in rural areas and the south, guns are widely owned and vigorously defended. I grew up in an environment like that so this is not some gun-seizing city slicker talking. If Mike has a son I'm sure he will teach him how to use guns at about that age. I'm also sure he will teach him to use it responsibly, as several people in this thread have advocated.
