>>>2) Their buddies are now on the way to rescue them carrying human shields (more hostages)

>>>3) Meanwhile, the captain tried to escape, jumped the lifeboat and made a swim for the warship, while the warship was asleep and didn't even try to rescue him. The pirates recaptured him.

>>>What a mess this has turned into. Before those other pirates show up, I would rapidly bring this to an end. Surrender or die. We board in 5 minutes.

>>Easy to rattle sabers from a distance. What if you board in 5 minutes and they kill all the hostages? (Which would probably be what would happen). Would you still feel that nice macho rush?

>By this girly (just to oppose your macho suggestion) attitude no hostage would be ever freed. The whole 'pirate' story is a shame. It could be solved time ago. Bomb out their port facilities; the end of story.

Interestingly enough, I agree with you and Tommy on this one. It is unfortunate that the captain is a hostage, but if they don't simply blast them all out of the water now, how many more captives will they be having to worry about rescuing in the future. At some point, a line has to be drawn, and the pirates have to learn that piracy is not going to continue to be a profitable enterprise. It's been allowed to go on for far too long now. If countries had stopped paying ransoms and simply declared war on the pirates, the U.S. wouldn't be in this position now.
