He is definitely too young to OWN a gun, but definitely not too young to start shooting something like a 22. (WHILE SUPERVISED). I probably started shooting when I was 7 or 8, but we do that down south. My dad would show me the finer points of marksmanship, then watch as I fired at the targets. I did the same with my kids. All three (two girls and a boy) can shoot, as can the wife. Trap shooting is a lot of fun, and we also like to take random shots at the neighbors, from time to time! :}
