>>You are making the assumption that all "hunters" ( i.e. any yahoo with a gun who gets a license - or not ) is "trained" The whole point of the discussion is that like operating a motor vehicle, airplane, power saw or chemistry set, training means knowing how all that stuff can kill you and acting appropriately. A kid who is interested in guns ( thanks to TV and popular culture ) who is over at a friend's house when the kid pulls out the gun he found is in a lot more danger if he learned about guns on TV. I assume you've never been on a shooting range but I can tell you for a fact it is a lot safer than a freeway. People who really understand guns don't play with them and exercise very intense (armed) peer pressure that discourages bad behavior from the those who are armed while stupid.

This is an invalid assumption. Some guns are designed primarily to hunt or for competition. I could deliberatly drive my car into a crowd of people, therefore using it for killing, but does that make all cars weapons?
