>>I have an SBS 2003 server at work, and I access the office network from my home computer using Remote Web Workplace, that all works fine, but I don't want to use my local printers and I do want to access my local drives, so I have to change those options every time I log on.

I have the TS gateway setup in Remote Desktop Client, but I can't seem to get past the Gateway Server Credentials, I've tried every combination of Username and Password that I can think of. I think it's supposed to be domain\user but that's not working. What am I doing wrong?

>Hmm, when I use RWW it's usually the exact opposite, I do want my local printers but not access to my local drives for file transfer. But, from time to time I do want to transfer files, so I turn that option on. Annoyingly (for me), RWW seems to remember that; every time I fire up Windows Explorer on the remote system I hear the client hitting my floppy drive. I have to remember to turn that option back off the next time I log on.

>As for using the RDP Client directly, I *think* that might require having port 3389 open. In a standard SBS 2003 setup with RWW, the server is dual-homed (2 NICs) and acts as the LAN gateway to the Internet. In that case you need to set up either the external hardware firewall (for Standard) or ISA (in Premium) to allow incoming traffic on ports 443 (SSL) and 4125 (RWW). Port 3389 is not required for RWW, and in general I'd discourage that because it's a favourite target for port scanning and script kiddies. RWW is mediated through IIS and is at least somewhat secure.

For security, I have RWW restricted to just my home IP address so it would probably be OK to open 3389, I'll have to think about it. Currently its allowed in ISA but blocked on the router. I'd just need to restrict ISA to only that one IP and then open the router.

It's possible that remembering the preferences is a group policy setting, but I'd rather it just defaulted to what I normally want.

So I've edited the ASPX to default to my preferences, I'll have to test that idea tomorrow.

Thanks for your help on this.
