>Anyone know of a free or inexpensive utility that I could use that would allow a user to select a few fields (perhaps through a Wizard) so he could then browse the data file safely and make changes? (obviousely, I wouldn't allow them to change certain fields like key ones, etc.). I get the request to do this often, especially when a user has entered a wrong date on about 1000 files, it would be easier just to allow them to browse that field and make the change there. The table is regular FoxPro files.

Something like Foxfire? There's always Foxfire, although it's not free. (Stonefield has a similar product). Ad hoc queries are exactly what it was designed to do, along with ad hoc reports. You sure aren't going to be able to develop similar capability for $295 worth of labor.

UPDATE: I'm not sure it allows users to change data. Not sure that's a good idea, either....
