I did this sometime ago and I was trying to find my notes on the subject but without any luck. Usually the database by default is the user name plus the extension so I would use something like username + ".nsf" as the string and manipulate from there. I really don't want to send you off on a tangent as it has been a few years so any thing I say is subject to major correction.

Check dejanews.com , I think that's the name, there is an extensive database of all these quirks that stop you in your tracks. Also there is a guy, Dan Freeman at danfreeman@imginc.com who has given some code examples on Lotus Notes and visual fox on the thread. Maybe you could email him, from all accounts he a nice guy,so tap the resource.
