I am doing contract work for a company that provides managed hardware and systems support.

They have customers that cannot afford or don't want to pay for ongoing support. So they are considering developing an application that they can sell to their customers that will allow them to keep their systems up to date. It would provide automatic download and installation of patches and SP's.

I'm thinking of some kind of KB that provides a UI where the user can enter in params and the software provides either the patch, or a link to the patch and a tutorial to help install it.

I need ideas on this.
