They're pretty complex to work with because there's one service interface for many different operations so the WSDL and support classes are pretty involved. Everything is overloaded in many ways because it has to fit different types of products so it takes quite a bit of checking of types to ensure that things aren't null and that you are assigning the right values. Definitely need to spend good time reading hte documentation that explains required values.
I've only worked with product lookups, which are on the low end of complexity, but looked at the rest of the e-commerce API and found that the same approaches apply. You should be able to find lots of examples online.
