>>>>>>>I am so happy and relieved to be working again I went running this morning. An old pastime, long ignored. I took the loaded iPod with me and dialed it to k.d. lang. My god, what a voice. There are American Idol like singers and then there are those who are blessed. She is in the latter group. She can blow the roof off without even trying. I love listening to her.
>>>>>>
>>>>>>Another voice I would like to suggest is Roy Orbison. 'Crying' (with K.D. Lang) to get you started. Mystery Girl, I Drove All Night, A Love So Beautiful and many more.

>>>>>You and me both. He had probably the best voice ever. He and k.d. lang did some nice duets.

>>>>I first heard him when we had only one govt. TV channel and they used to show English song videos once a week, they showed Mystery Girl and since then I have that song and video in my head :)

>>>Now you've done it ;-) That song will be in my head all day now.

>>>There is a terrific concert video called "Black and White Night." It was recorded in L.A. late in his life and the crowd is filled with celebrities. Early in the show he does this rumbling thing in his throat which I can't describe accurately. The crowd goes nuts. You can see everyone exchanging looks -- that was outrageous!
>>>
>>>I don't have that many regrets but one of them is that I never saw him perform. I have seen about every rocker of note in the past 30 years. The really sad part was he played at the Uptown Theater in Chicago, literally blocks from my girlfriend's apartment. I decided to watch a baseball game instead! What a dummy.
>>
>>Yeah, you neither looked at her!!! But the game!!!! :)
>>
>>I will check out Black and White Nights, thanks.

>It's a good one. Lots of great guest musicians, prominently Bruce Springsteen. They all basically showed up to pay tribute to Roy. Bonnie Raitt, k.d. lang, and Jennifer Warnes stand in the back and sing backing vocals, clearly enjoying themselves. Pretty good bit players! The other guy you can't help noticing is James Hardin. He was the guitarist in Roy's band, and played guitar for Elvis and Gram Parsons before that. Not a bad resume. He's not flamboyant but boy can he play.

Thanks.
