Oddly enough, 'moose' is both the singular and the plural of 'moose' and 'deer' is both the singular and plural of 'deer'. I don't know how that came about or who makes the rules, but there it is.
Here's one for you (to which I do not have the answer). What is the rule that defines whether to use 'or' or 'er' as a job descriptor. For example, 'Tailor', 'Realtor', 'Legislator', 'Solicitor' vs 'Teacher', 'Examiner', 'Plumber', 'Appraiser'.
And of course, why not 'job descripter'?
