What constitutional rights am I sacrificing? The right to drive safely on the road? Such laws are positive for everybody except extraordinarily selfish people who may kill somebody by focusing exclusively on their own precious rights. IMHO it is appropriate for authorities to create a disincentive for that sort of tyrannical behavior and to action it if people keep forgetting that others have rights too.
If you feel so strongly about confiscation of property, how do you feel about people being put in jail?
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
