>Another thing to bear in mind with ADSL is that the available speed decreases with distance. If your site is too far away from the nearest telephone exchange, you can't get higher speed with ADSL no matter how much you pay. I had this happen just today with a client - they're paying for 2.5 - 3.0Mbps download speed, but they can't get more than 1.5 because they're too far away. The ISP is supposed to be migrating them to a closer exchange but they don't know exactly when.

When I tested the DSL speed today using speedtest.net it showed the server to be 100 miles from my office. I don't know if the server they showed is the Verizon server used by my DSL or the server speedtest.net was using. Anyway, the result were vary dismal. Especially when they showed how my speed compared with other users/providers.

Right now I am at home on Cable internet and I tried to run the speedtest.net but I get error "Latency test returned an error while trying to read the latency file." So unfortunately I can't see what my Cable ISP does for speed. Maybe I will try later.

Thank you.
