This message has been marked as the solution to the initial question of the thread.
>There is some kind of a ghost key I am hitting sometime which I am not even aware of. When this is effective, the font in Internet Explorer is diminished. The only way I have found to rectify that is to close the browser and open a new instance. Until version 7, this was only necessary to the actual window. If I had other windows opened and only opened a new Internet Explorer window, the font was back to normal. Now, with IE 8, this is reflected to all upcoming windows until I close them all. Anyone knows something about that?

If you press the Ctrl key and scroll the mouse wheel it will have this effect.
