I don't follow what you mean about the Mexican version. Isn't that supposed to be where it started? I don't think it simultaneously broke out worldwide and the "Mexican version" went bad.
According to the local news there seems to be the first confirmed local case. An elementary school on the far north side of Chicago is closed today because of an incidence. No details given but they did say a confirmed swine flu infection is the reason. The school is in a neighborhood, heavily Hispanic now, blocks from Loyola University and the Catholic elementary school my daughters attended. We lived a couple of miles straight west.
