I agree with you. While the new rules help having more balanced teams than before, it still can produce some strange results.

San Jose is a mystery. I can't imagine why a team that won the President trophy (and that didn't suffer from important players injuries) can loose against a team that finished in 8th place. Thornton and Marleau have a reputation of shokers when the spotlights are on them and I guess that it did happen also this year. I wonder why San Jose don't invest more in psychologist help...

Detroit - Anaheim will also be a very good matchup. I'm pretty sure that Detroit won't fall in the same trap as San Jose and that they will win this round. Look like they're (again) on their way to the Stanley cup final.

I wish that the Habs do a really good cleanup and try to learn more from Detroit success *sigh*

>Their regular season records were very close. The Blackhawks wound up with more points but due to division champ rules the Canucks have the home advantage. I like the NBA's way better, that winning your division helps you in the first round but then the seeding advantage disappears and it's down to points. There are weak divisions and strong ones, that's inevitable. You shouldn't be rewarded or punished throughout the Cup based on what division you come from.
