>This may be a local problem or a state problem only. I am concerned that the numbers are not accurate. For example, my daughter still has not been tested. We've been to the doctor now 3 times and each time it is a different story. The first time we were told to go home and stay away from others and to return on Monday. Then on Monday we were told to stay home and return on Tuesday afternoon to be tested. We returned on Tuesday afternoon and we were told that she would not be tested. They are now only testing those who actually were in Mexico at some point of time recently, not people who came into contact with people who went to Mexico and have since gotten the symptoms. She was told to return to school when her fever breaks. I phoned the health department afterwards and was informed that it is up to the individual clinics to decide who will be tested and who will not. We were sent to that clinic by our own clinic because they are handling all of the suspected cases according to our doctor. I think we have a serious problem here locally or someone is trying to 'keep the numbers down.' Considering the number of kids sick here, I am amazed that they are not testing more. I would be perfectly comfortable if they all tested negative, but to not test? I believe absolutely nothing our state health authority says on the t.v. now when he constantly states 'there are no confirmed cases in North Carolina.' Of course there aren't if you aren't testing everyone with the symptoms! So who really knows if there are any here or not? The number of people going back and forth to Mexico from North Carolina is HUGE so I find it absolutely amazing that no one has it or they aren't testing everyone.

Just guessing, but running such tests requires personnel, material and time, so they may be triaging to try to test those most likely to be infected. I did hear something on the radio this morning, suggesting that they don't want to go overboard testing, and the insinuation was that they didn't have the resources to test huge numbers.

More importantly, how is Haley doing?
