MouseUp is my preference, because that's the default behavior of the rest of the Windows - you click into something you didn't want, including the close box of an app, then realize the mistake, just drag away and release the mouse on an empty space, and nothing happens. If I got used to it, I guess there are thousands of people out there who did too. So something that reacts as soon as a mouse button is clicked on but not yet off, may be counterintuitive to some people.
