Hi Peter

We do use Google Map and Map Quest for locating and getting directions. However, the need is that when a coordinator is trying to find some employee to work for a client and looking up matching attributes, we come up with numerous candidates. The request was to quickly identify those that were the closest in distance and present them in that order. Since the coordinator could be on disconnected data, I include the lat and long for those clients and employees so that the distance can be calculate with out relying on being connected to the internet. Seems to work very well, other than for those that could not get the lat and long coordinates

How are things going? We talked about getting together for evening meal. How about some time in the next week or 2? Drop me an email if it would work out.

Ron

>>To determine approximate distance between clients and employees, the need to calculate this knowing the latitude and longitude coordinates of our clients and employees.
>>
>>Used the routine that Craig Boyd has to find Latitude and Longitude from "geocoder" for all of our clients and employees and was successful for about 85% of the 8400 address locations we have. I am assuming that the address information for those 15% is not being recognized because of user putting such things as Box numbers, Apt. numbers etc.

>>So i thought for these, that I could simply get an approximate Lat and Long based only on the Town name with out an address. However, this does not work.
>>
>>Does anyone have suggestions on how one can get the Lat and Long for each town with out an address?

>>Thanks in advance.
