Oh - I see the second parameter must be zero, not one. (The remaining details, I will just keep the existing code; the only thing I want to do for now is avoid the need of "retouching" the grid every time a bloody column is added!)

What I don't quite understand (from the help) is what happens if the second parameter for aevents() is omitted, since it appears to be an optional parameter.

I think that is correct.
