>>>>This may amuse you. The rental car I have this week has TN / Shelby County plates. Don't ask me why; someone must have felt like renting a car in Memphis and following the Mississippi River south. After lunch I pulled back into the company lot and a lady getting out of a nearby car at the same time said, in the most pleasing drawl you ever heard, "Oh, are you from Tinnissee?" What I wouldn't have given for your voice! LOL As it was I said no in my normal voice and that was pretty much the end of that.

The old adage about ducks paddling? The office ambiance almost seems like Club Med, languid conversations going on everywhere. A northern boy could probably be here quite a long time without quite grokking it, am I right?

>>>Oh, I don't know. I am attracted to "southern" women, but then again, my wife and my mom are southern women! Like you, I am also attracted to women from almost anywhere too though.<g> They all have their pluses and minuses, just as we do. I'm sure you'll do fine. You may find one who is fascinated by the funny way you talk!<g>

>>It is kind of amusing realizing I am the one who "talks funny." This happens to me several times a day now.

>>I have been brainstorming about places which are both nicer and cheaper than where I am now, and one of the avenues I am pursuing is summer sublets near LSU. It's only about 5 miles from here (and half the cubicles at the office have LSU paraphernalia of some type). The school year is ending this week and there are lots of listings on Craigslist by students wanting to sublet through July, pretty cheap. The question is whether it's been too long since I dealt with college level noise ;-) I was in a fraternity in college, at UW-Madison to boot, but that was a while ago. Maybe I should stick with my own kind, i.e. old goats....

>Dude, those lasses from LSU are totally insane. When approached by one, you should be hearing, "danger, will robinson"....

Well here is a new wrinkle. It looks like I will indeed be subletting, but from an LSU professor, not a student, and away from campus in a quiet neighborhood. It's from next Sunday until the end of June. She hinted that there may be a way to extend it with the landlord. Maybe there really is someone up there smiling down on me ;-)
