I find comments like the above total hypocritical. For years we've been writing mission critical apps that used DBF's as the storage medium and not once did we say, "Gee, Mr. Client, I'm sorry to tell you that your critical business data is not very secure."

For the small to mid size business, the simplicity of access to DBF's far outweighs the minimal security risk that might happen by a hacker, etc.

In fact, I would dare say that DBF's are becoming more secure because as time marches on, the portability of data will become less common. Portability in terms of apps that can read and write standard DBF's.
