>>>There is FUD in a move from one platform to another, no doubt, but my main issue is that M$ has screwed me once and I don't want them to have that opportunity again.

>>I get that part and can't say I disagree (I would have profited greatly from expanded and continued support for VFP) But whatever VFP's merits, or MS's moral shortcomings - the technical side of .net and the critical mass of MS resources and developers using it indicates to me I can make some money with it. My mantra for the last 20 years has been "I've made a lot more money off of Microsoft than they've ever made off of me" so I'm still cool with it <bg>

>Are you sure you didn't make that money from your own work and off your customers? Or were you reselling their wares?

The former. But all the money I have given MS since 1982 wouldn't add up to two months of what I've made using their tools. I have, in 2009 dollars, a 150K education which has never made me a dime (Jeopardy excluded) and have spent god knows how much on other tools that yielded a much lower return. I'm very grateful Balmer hoodwinked IBM so I don't have to eat an apple or become a Scientologist (I just can't shake the idea they are the same thing) and I really don't believe Microsoft is the source of all evil in the universe (a lot of it is Dick Cheney)

Never resold MS, just used their stuff instead of working for a living. <s> If my ROI with GM were the same I'd be able to buy an island <g>

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
