One of the points of an automated testing tool is to be able run an agreed test plan after you've changed a system. A complicated system might have many different types of transaction and you don't really want to have to sit there typing them all in. But your client might require that level of testing after a system change.

It might not make so much sense for a one man band developing a smallish application because its a big overhead.
