>That's the knotty issue and the reason the matter still remains open. If you want to bet that they will be released in the U.S., let's shake hands on that one. The smart money seems to be that they will be returned to their home countries.

Perhaps knowing no one would take them was part of the equation when Obama made people feel good by saying he would release them to those who would take them <s> It is very much his style.

Or do you believe he would release them to home countries where they will be imprisoned and tortured under conditions that make Gitmo look like Club Med?

The problem with actually being in power is that that suddenly one has to make choices in the real world, rather than between what one's political demons are doing and the ideal solution that exists only in one's campaign literature and the imaginations of one's disciples. <s>

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin
