I'm usually gaining more by having fewer variables, keeping as many of them local as possible, and by generally thinking the process through and writing simpler code. The mDot, just like anything else in this (or any other) world, isn't in the worshippable category for me. It's just something that may help me when I start pulling my hairs out, so I better keep that in mind.
