>>>Honestly I do not consider myself an arrogant developer. I have worked with many tools in my career and am not from any uber alles camp. What I said about DBFs and serious companies was sincere and didn't have a thing to do with Microsoft. It's a risky way to store your data, end of story. We really should all understand this by now.
>>
>>If you really worry about storing data in DBF's, there are alternatives to that. The truth of the matter is, it's not just the DBF's that make VFP unique. It's the elegance of the language, the ease with which you can manipulate data, and the robustness and depth of the tools that allow you to extend your applications in some rather unique ways.
>>
>>No doubt we will all leave VFP eventually, MS has seen to that. But there are many, many alternatives. It just comes down to weighing a lot of factors and picking the alternative that works for YOU. Too bad Apple didn't buy Fox Software. I started using a MAC over 2 years ago and I'm beginning to see why there are so many switchers. It's an elegant OS and much more intuitive than Windows.

>I don't think Mike is speaking out of a particular ignorance of VFP, DBFs, or Fox in general. When I first started using Foxbase in the 80s I was lucky to stumble onto the Compuserve FoxForum. Welcoming new users, setting a tone of congeniality and generosity, and offering guidance was MVP Mike Beane. He really does "get" Fox. A lot of us do. <s>

Are you sure that MVP program existed in 80s for FoxBase?
