>>>>>>>>>>That is a union problem not healthcare. Unions caused the fall of the big 3. Why does a semi-skilled laborer ( with average 10 years on job ) rate an average of $54 an hour ( with benefits it is actually higher )? I know educated software types would like that salary.
>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>And now Obama and the Congress is going to bail out Chrysler (and probably GM), using our Tax Money to do it (Bush and company would probably have done the same thing).
>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>Basically, the Unions voted in Obama to make sure they can keep their overblown paychecks coming in, subsidized by your (and mine) pocketbook (even if you didn't buy a car from the big-3, you will be paying for a car from them through your taxes).
>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>I say, let them compete in the marketplace, and fail. Then the pieces will come together and form a new car company WITHOUT union labor and be able to compete against the foreign brands, and do so without having to beg from the American Taxpayer.
>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>Whats wrong with union labour.
>>>>>>>>Shouldn't workers be free to organise themselves for their mutual benefit.
>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>What's your opinion on 'right-to-work' legislation?
>>>>>>
>>>>>>Which right to work legislation and whats your opinion on multi national companies being able to move production to low wage countries.?
>>>>>
>>>>>Right-to-work legislation relates to the following issue: let say you get a job in a unionized shop. Must you join the union or it is your personal choice to join or not?
>>>>>Now, when you got the idea, do you still want me to answer your question about multi-national companies, not quite related to the issue, imo? I don't mind answering, just asking you for confirmation.
>>>>
>>>>No I raise that issue because the union bashers often seem to paint it as a good versus bad situation. I think there's more nuance than that .
>>>>
>>>>I don't think you should be obliged to join a union for work I think the union should have to sell itself like any other organisation. Maybe the union could say that if you don't join why should you get benefits they have negotiated.
>>>
>>>Thank you, for the first answer. I have second question, if you don't mind. Would you agree that workers should decide unionization issue by ballot, i.e. they should vote to decide if union should be created at particular company?
>>
>>No
>>
>>If an individual wants to try and start a union and sell the idea to others there I don't see why they shouldn't. In a well managed (and well paid) company they would probably get fewer takers.
>
>So you basically agree that real enterprise should be mixed: some workers will be unionized and some not? Is it something that can be found in your country? Please, be aware that situation on GM/Chrysler plants is different: all workers must be in union.

Yes I'd agree with that. A union should be able to sell itself by understanding the market and the company and selling to the workers the benefits of operating as a group.
