Well, SARS killed more people. Flu will circumnate the planet twice before dieing out. The 1918 pandemic that killed so many began as a mild bird flu that went around the world first in the late spring and returned in the fall as a mutated killer form of the same flu. So, let's hope a lot of vaccine can be made between now and then.
