>>>Geeking out on the idea of getting a Kindle DX. Anybody pre-order yet?

>>I just looked it up on Amazon (for the first time). What would make me (maybe) buy one of these if it had a built-in Spanish-English dictionary so that when you read a Spanish book you can just click on a word (with a stylus) and see the word definition or translation. That would be cool. Otherwise, at the price of close to $500. it seems too much for me.

>I think that's a great idea. Some kind of Babelfish functional translator would be nice too. I think they have some kind of Wikipedia lookup thing. Wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of this incorporated into future versions. Techinically easy, certainly. It's just a tricked out tablet PC with proprietary wireless, after all.

>Haven't actually held one in my hands yet. If I were Amazon I'd start setting up kiosks in every shopping mall in the US.
Could be interesting to see a confrontation between the mall book store clerk/owner and the Kindle DX kiosk operator <g>. Frankly I think they should make these devices less expensive before we, average folk with kids in colleges and post-under-grad schools, can afford them. Especially since they will be making money on people buying or borrowing the electronic books.
