I understand and accept the consequences as the deployed "solutions" have not solved anything.

Most banks have survived. Most business loans haven't been called in. Most mortgage-holding families (IOW most middle-class families) have kept their homes. That's something.

Our medicine is coming and I'd prefer to take it now while we can still recover, with the added benefit that a crash will ensure a house/senate cleaning which is desperately needed.

I hope you're wrong. A crash will allow transfer of even more $ to large institutions and the sorts of people who have cash to purchase assets at fire-sale prices. We've already seen what happens when you allow too much asset and power to concentrate itself. IMHO we need to go in the other direction.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
