>We don't go to the movies very often, having a pretty good setup for watching DVD's, that's what we usually do (renting from Netflix). But every once in awhile, we gotta catch one up on the big screen. You know, like all the Lord of the Rings movies had to be seen at least once in the theater (and then, over and over again in DVD <g>).

>So anyway, we saw Star Trek a week ago and really liked it. A good, solid, entertaining movie. I think that even people who weren't really Trekkies would like it. I don't consider myself a Trekkie, but I've still been a big fan of Star Trek (original TV series and all the movies).

>Speaking of the TV series ... did anyone have a favorite episode? My favorite has always been "The Trouble With Tribbles".

The one where they encounter the Romulans and actually SEE them for the first time. They see that the Romulans are exactly like Vulcans physically - and it is revealed they are the EVIL twins of the Vulcans - they never learned to control their aggression through Logic. Kirk has to save his crew from the Romulans and themselves as they struggle to trust Mr. Spock now (even though he could be a traitor in their midst). (Also, we get to see the actor here (Mark Lenard) who will play Spock's father in later episodes - he plays the Romulan Commander (and dies) plus plays the Klingon Commander (who dies) in the the Star Trek The Movie.
