You can certainly use true type fonts (which includes fixed fonts like Courier New). The problem that can arise is that in certain circumstances Foxpro will pad out or reduce the size of the variable being "got" depending on how big you draw the text box. To overcome this and to make it clear to the user when space runs out I use Courier New (9 point) for fixed length text input (while using MS San Serif or Arial for memo type boxes). I always use a proportional font for "Say" objects.
I also set the default font of the screen to match the input font (Courier New 9) and set the Ruler to Characters. That way you can size the box by dragging it up to the ruler and making it about half a character wider than its actual width.
If you really want to use proportional fonts for your "get" boxes make sure that you enter a matching format code like "XXXXXXXXXX" in the format option of the objects properties screen. Then everything should be OK.
