>>>>>>I have been sick for two days now and my hours are all screwy. It's 1 in the morning and I am wide awake after sleeping through the evening. Money flying out the window. What can you do? Back to Lee Child and hopefully a brighter morning.

>>>What's with all the morose songs? Listen to something bright and cheerful! Are you back home with the girls?
>>
>>No. I did not feel well enough to drive yesterday morning, and it's 65 miles to the New Orleans airport. The last thing I needed to do was make a bad situation worse by getting a DUI or in an accident. I thought if I got a good sober night's sleep on Thursday I would be OK, but there had just been too much drinking all week. Maybe I don't bounce back as quickly as I used to.
>>
>>It's not that bad not being home. Allie is with friends in Chicago and Emily starts her job (lifeguard) today. It would just be me and the dogs. This week there were four of them -- Tricia was taking care of her mom and it's a no pets building. Eddie is one of those little schnoodles who thinks he's the baddest dog on the block. He even tries to act menacing with Crash, who is about 10 times his size.

>>I know I have to get this under control. I can't fail in this job. It's not an option.

>>Are all the songs I have mentioned morose? "Loving Her Was Easier" isn't IMO, or "Bobbie McGee", or Copperhead Road."
>>
>>UPDATE: At least I am sober today. And I will be going to a meeting later. There are lots of groups here (lots of groups everywhere) and if I don't like the first one, I will keep trying. One of the best pieces of advice ever given to me by another alcoholic was if you don't like a group, don't stop going, find a different group. Smart lady.

>>I miss my group back in Round Lake. It's a great group. Some of the people who are in it and have the affliction would surprise most people. There are some down and outers but most don't fit the stereotype. If anything they are probably smarter than average bear. One thing you learn pretty quickly is that alcohol is not too discriminating in who it picks. It seems almost random.

>Don't go later today. Go NOW or find a sponsor NOW. Call a cab to get there.

6 p.m meeting. They don't meet every hour of the day.

I just had a long talk with a guy from the group back in Round Lake. One of the hardasses. It was a good conversation, the kind I should be more willing to make.
