I had the same problem at the initilization of TreeView Control in VFP5.

The solution is in force a mouse click inside the control with MOUSE command

MOUSE CLICK AT thisform.oleTreeView.Top+1,thisform.oleTreeView.Left+1 ;
WINDOW (thisform.name)

Try this and tell me if work!
