Then use the filescripting object or some API to get that info from the filename. How are these two times different, anyway - I mean I know the difference in principle, but how do these times become different on an exe? The exe is FTP'd and loses the date along the way, or what?

For my executables, in the directory where they are installed, the creation time is in January - that's when I started that testbed directory, and when I installed the first version there. The last modification time is the build time - the installer was built a minute later, and it was run on this directory a few minutes later. So for me the exe update time is the build time.
