If you're using Server 2008 to store VFP data files for multi-user sharing, there is one thing to watch out for:
- Vista clients connecting to Server 2008 will, by default, do so using SMB2 rather than SMB
- There was a nasty bug in SMB2 prior to Vista SP1 that was causing serious problems with data files of VFP, Access and other file-server databases
Vista SP1 was issued some time ago, and I believe the equivalent fix for Server 2008 was as well. So, make sure your patches are up-to-date.
