>Naomi, I just want to clarify that it's not the DataSet that's causing you headaches, it's the TableAdapter. You can still utilize the DataSet designer, but do it using the XML view rather than the designer that shows the tables like a visio diagram ... as soon as you use that, it'll auto-gen the damn TableAdapters as soon as you save any changes. Does anyone know if you can turn that off? The only way I've found is just to never open that version of the designer (or at least don't save changes from that "view" if you inadvertently open it).

>>>Hi everybody,

>>>Just want to clarify. If I create a new TA class named the same and copy the code from the designer and then change it manually, can I get rid of the original designer generated class and use this one exactly the same way as the one generated?

>>>I found I'm stack with the auto-generated class and can not do anything - I'd rather apply my changes now manually - it should not be very hard, I hope.

>>>Thanks in advance.

The only option I know of is one I came across by accident - you can change where the code is generated:
