I don't think we can hope to control every aspect of our lives or psyches. Seems to me we do change- especially when there's kids.

Well, I can't crawl into anyone else's head....but I can honestly say that the strongest values haven't changed since I was a kid.

Did you consider and firmly repress the idea or did it not occur to you at all?

It "occured" to me once, only in the sense that I was incredibly scared and knew that others in my general situation would likely (and sincerely) pray. But (and I offer this as a pure hypothetical argument) a God who didn't answer prayers of millions who were slaughtered by men like Hitler would certainly not....(you can see where the rest of this sentence is going).
