Harsh but probably true.

I will be back at AA every day as soon as I get home. Twice a day, per your advice. (There is one guy in my group in Round Lake who has been sober 27 years, maybe 28 now, and goes to two meetings a day. He says he knows he would be right back drinking if he stopped going. Can't say why I never have gone here, which was one of the problems. Bible thumpers turn me off and I thought it would be more than I could take. But I didn't even give it a chance. My mistake.

Holy smokes, that was the loudest thundercrack I have ever heard in my life. And another one. Monster storm. I am going to take it as an emphatic warning from that guy I don't believe in. (Many AA-ers don't, at least when they come in).

>Good for you for owning it.

>I'm 'assuming' you did not call a sponsor before you took that 1st drink. Are you ready to try a more serious approach and perhaps even an in-house rehab now? What you've been doing has not been working.
>
>One more comment I would make. You state that there are more important things in life than the drink and you especially mention your kids. However, your behavior demonstrates otherwise.

>>I know most of you are tired of posts like this. I am kind of tired of them myself.

>>This morning I resigned from my project and and am going back to Chicago, probably tomorrow. I was not able to control the drinking. Last week was an excellent week through Thursday, then I slipped again. Called in Friday with a bogus story. Drunk all weekend. Another bogus story yesterday. Drunk again today, before dawn. I called Nicolle, the recruiter who brought me here, and told her the whole story. No lies this time.

>>For anyone looking for work, I heartily recommend this client. They have some great stuff going on and the people are nice to work with. I may have come here with an ignorant northerner's view of the south as backwards. I quickly learned otherwise. These are some of the sharpest people I have ever worked with, particularly in their use of SQL Server and stored procedures. If you apply, be sure to brush up on that.

>>I do not ask for any sympathy at all. Nor do I enjoy the drama. It's hard to not drink but every time I do it is ultimately my choice. This place is part of my life and I wanted to let you know, that's all. Some of you have given up on me. I don't blame you. To those of you who haven't, I am eternally grateful. It's more than I deserve.
>>
>>Don't worry, I am not going to do anything dramatic. Oddly enough, I do not feel depressed. That comes and goes with seemingly no control. What I am is determined to stop wasting my life.
>>
>>Thank you for listening. I hope this is my last stupid post.
