Today I changed my flight home from the 12th to tomorrow and they nailed me for another $240.I paid an extra $340 to fly at a particular time. The alternative was a red-eye via Chicago arriving the following day. On arrival in Los Angeles last Sunday I found that my flight was canceled and I was re-booked... onto the red-eye. Airline staff acted surprised when I asked how they would refund the difference in price. Presumably they'll act the same way should I ever wish to initiate a change to a more expensive flight. ;-)
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
