Oh, we've had our share of issues with IE8. Building a website using with some javescript library did display without a problem in IE6, IE7, FireFox, Safari and chrome, but not in IE8. It did not matter a hoot whether the compatibility modus is installed.

Everyting MS releases something, there will be something that breaks. I'm not willing to be on the bleeding edge trying to resolve common problem. I can wait another year or so, until all flaws are ironed out. For the same reason, we did not install vista before SP1.

There is absolutely no pressing reasons to jump to anything new if XP does the job.
