As much as proof as anybody else offers for their assertions. ;-)

So how about this: there was a time when citizens needed gas-masks or nuclear bomb-shelters in their backyards. At one point there were nuclear weapons in Cuba and a serious risk of MAD. The people kept their chins up and coped. Surely we can cope with an economic contrivance that boils down to fear of inflation even though all of our international buddies would benefit if we all embraced it.
