Exactly. But, the danger is, assuming it is illegal to refuse service based on someone's unwillingness to share their SIN, that a company will say "If you won't give us your SIN, we won't serve you." If that is stated, you might have a lawsuit on your hands. Again, I don't know for sure, but it is something a company should be aware of before it sets its policies.
