>Conversely the current administration allows criticism but is not following the other lines.

>You have got to be kiddling me! Have you ever heard of something called the "Fairness Doctrine". Go ahead and google it - the current administration has been making noises about trying to bring it back in order to squash condervative talk radio, And the main stream media is in Obama's hip pocket - NBC, MSNBC and CNBC are owned my GE - they are definitely not going to criticize this administration. The current administration is taking over banksm car companies, and insurance companies.

Come on, Marcia, the man is not that dumb. If he did try to "squash conservative talk radio" or other conservative voices there would be as big an outcry from the left as from the right. Personally I very seldom listen to conservative talk radio, just for entertainment once in a while, LOL, but would not in a million years deny their right to hold their views or express them. Free speech really is one of the fundamental tenets this country was built on, and I think it is something most of us agree on, even when we don't like what is being said.

The "mainstream media" is a favorite whipping boy of conservatives, with the implication that it is a liberal monolith. That's inaccurate. Ever heard of Fox News? Rush Limbaugh? They have audiences in the tens of millions.

Re the fairness doctrine, bear in mind that it was put in place at a time when there were three TV networks. Also no such thing as highly charged political radio channels, web sites, blogs, etc. The concept of trying to make media sources whose POV is part of their identity offer equal time to those with opposing POVs is absurd. There is no danger of any POV being unavailable these days.
