Then again, I remember it, too -- from when it was a new song on the radio! LOL. Dave Mason.... I remember it when it came out as well....1977, the greatest year of my life...I was 12....pitched a no-hitter in Little League, hit 500 home runs in our neighborhood whiffle-ball league, got to swim in a pool in Arizona for a month, and yes, for an entire 2 months, had a girlfriend who was a year older. I remember listening to Dave Mason, Player, and other 70's musicians.
Personal vent: nothing makes me more nauseous than men who sing ballads like wusses. Dave Mason is an example of how a man SHOULD sing and perform a "love-song". I personally don't care if female singers perform over-dramatized love songs (a certain Celine Dion comes to mind), but dudes have to be held to a different standard.
For instance....let's take Edwin McCain's "Greatest Fan of your Life"...an awesome song that I can actually sing half decently in the shower
Then let's take Air Supply's "All out of Love"....I can actually taste my own bile when I heard that one.
Then let's take LifeHouse's "You and Me (And All Other People)"...ok,Lifehouse can be a bit sappy, but this is still a good example of a dude love song.
Then there's the Styx song, "Don't Let it End" (or even "Babe").....a pretentious piece of crap from the king of pop, Dennis DeYoung
Do we all see the difference? :)
