No. Because of the voting system. The drop in the labour vote meant that the BNP vote formed a greater percentage of the total votes cast and was enough to qualify them as one of the elected candidates.

The actual number of votes the BNP got was slightly down on the last European elections.

The worst part of it is that the BNP now qualifies for funding from the EU which can amount to a lot of money.

Other countries elect far right wingers to the EU especially some of the ex Eastern Bloc countries but this is the first time the UK has done it.
