Title:
AACK!! FPW26 Occasionally Crashes Windows 95!
Greetings,
I am almost ashamed to admit this, but we have an application written by an outside vendor running under FPW26. The real sorry part is that this is an updated application and the vendor has yet to move to VFP. It's an order entry system that I wish I could have just written myself, except that I was not the decision maker.
Anyway, when the compiled EXE is launched, or even FPW26 itself, under Windows 95, one of three random things occur: 1) The app (or FPW26) successfully launches, 2) Simultaneous with clicking on the program icon, I experience the ultimate Windows 95 lock-up where NOTHING but a cold reset works, or 3) My PC experiences a spontaneous cold system restart without ANY warning. Ideally, option #1 is the preferred outcome.
This problem occurs on more PCs than just my own, and I have tried various things to remedy the problem, such as replacing the ESL library file with a later version.
Does anyone have a suggestion that would actually work, short of rebuilding the system in VFP?
Thanks!
Michael Reynolds
