I use separate classes for my own controls: One for project-specific controls that inherit from ProCtrls, and one for generic controls that inhert from VPMCtrls. This will keep a better separation between the framework classes and your own, and may save your hide if the framework is ever updated (which, however, by now seems unlikely as we are dealing with a dying breed...)
